This isn’t bad, but my God the amount of exposition!

I don’t like Emory. At all.

Enough with the expository world building, where’s the plot?

I’m sort of intrigued but there’s so much dialogue waffling and too few answers, so I’m slowly losing interest. Also it’s SO GORY.

Getting very tired of Slade making Auren horny every time she’s raising very legitimate objections to his unilateral decisions. Not really seeing how he’s that much better than Midas in that regard.

I don’t like when the royals behave like right dicks and then the people they abuse just die.

I know Auren is in a shitty position, but I find her mainly annoying.

This fight is going on for way too long.

I mean the plot is interesting enough, but man do I not enjoy the narrator’s style.

She has almost zero agency and what little she has she uses for stupid decisions. I’m reading on in the hopes of comeuppance, but other reviews indicate I’ll have to wait several books. So really not sure I’ll continue…

Now we’re talking! I love Kingfisher.

I rather Iike this book, but really, ”I just happen to have” after she brought an item ”without really knowing why”..? Could definitely have been worked in better.

Bleh, more people not telling her things.

Angsty teenagers are so not my thing. And this one is angstier than most, for the weirdest reasons.

WOHOO! He’s back! But also ffs nobody ever gets to just die in these books.

Why do the authors insist on men violating the homes of women in all these books? Also, if the wards are so fantastic, how are they constantly broken?

And now we are defending (violent) gangsters, who are only people who need to feed their families. The morals are weirdly warped.

So when did an art smuggler start deserving to die?

To someone (me) who has learned a second language as an adult, it is not credible that not only does Billie speak Italian (and Russian and German and…) without an accent, she can also ”ease into the Venetian dialect”…

Kate’s reasoning when it comes to Curran is so stupid it hurts. I actively do not want them to get together.

I have so little patience for women falling for controlling douchebags ”despite not wanting to” nowadays. Am still reading though.

Violet’s insistence that Xaden has done no wrong by channeling is so delusional it’s difficult to keep reading. He CHOSE this, and if she were consistent she’d extend her forgiveness to all the other venin too, as they may very well also have had good reasons to channel the first time. Like the second-year in the practice battle, for instance.

Xaden Riorson is such a stupid name.

I’m pretty interested in where this is going but could we PUH-LEASE have less of the angsty love story? I’m so grateful they only see each other once a week.

Violet’s dithering is almost as annoying as Xaden’s smug attitude. And now the sister entered and is unreasonably upset with Violet. YA indeed.

Theo is so whiny and self-pitying I’m not sure I’ll get through this.
