Set up from the beginning for a spectacular Microsoft Word joke 200 pages later. It almost rivals the ultimate Dad joke from Harrow the Ninth. This book is totally getting 5 stars even if the rest sucks (it doesn't).

This is SO bad but I’m determined to finish it.

I’m only 5% of the way through this book and in already want to punch all the characters in the face. I smell another 1-star rating in the making.

A pet peeve (applies to books and movies/tv): “What’s going on?” “It’s easier if I just show you, sir.” Well, no, actually, cause y’all just wasted like 3 hours driving there and getting all suited up when he could have just explained it in one sentence, exactly as the narration in book did. Maybe just TRY explaining it first and then show them if they don’t understand? Smh

I’m really enjoying the story and the writing, but finding the pace glacial. I might actually pick up another book in the meantime to break it up, but I do feel a little guilty about it…

Just not working for me.

Calling this one early, DNF at 15%. Not enough to hook me or keep me interested.

I’ve tried not to succumb to the hype but these four characters are too delightful to resist. It’s really hard to say who is my favorite.

Okay, I know authors sometimes need an excuse to over-explain things. But writing Gamache and Beauvoir, two veteran homicide inspectors, as if they’ve practically never even HEARD of AA before, is hard to swallow.

Need something feel-good after the last book I read. Plus, needing to remind myself of these characters before reading the sequel.

This is a work assignment. I am not reading this willingly, but at least it will count towards my goodreads goal for the year.

So this series took me about 5 months to reread, making sure it was spread out comfortably enough that I didn't get too burned out on it. I predict even more sobbing over this final entry than the first time I read it.

Alright, I’m doing it. Gonna reread this whole series this year, and presumably get my heart ripped out at the end again. It’ll be a year for fantasy (given the Stormlight book coming out at the end of the year too). Wish me luck.

There’s never a bad time for a Murderbot reread (plus installment #7 comes out next month…)

I’m driving back and forth from ME to MA once a week this summer so I’m giving audiobooks a try for the very first time (ones that I can switch between the audio and ebook version). The first 2+ hour stint was.. kinda weird but not terrible? Not sure if the cliched-ness of the writing is affecting my opinion of audiobooks in general. Will continue to experiment.

Don’t remember a thing about the first book, don’t plan to reread it either. Will I understand this one at all?

Finding it slow. I remember having the same issue with The Poppy War. Still interesting though.

I have NO momentum on this book.

If I wasn’t behind on my reading challenge, I’d probably consider DNFing this one.

Not really a fan of the whole book being one big battle scene.

Turns out reading about the mostest perfectest man in the world in pretty boring.

It’s possible the author has directly accessed my brain to give me the exact kind of plot that I love.

This book was nominated for 4 out of the 5 awards that I follow every year, so even if it doesn't win it's likely there's *something* worth reading here!

I haven't even started this book yet and I can already tell I'm going to be a sobbing mess at the end of it.

It drives me nuts when there’s a Cast of Characters at the beginning of a fantasy book. It makes me feel like it’s going to be too complicated for me to keep people straight on my own, even when that’s probably not true. Just put it at the end!!

This book is very much Not My Thing but given all the awards nominations (Hugo and Nebula so far) I felt like I “should” read it. At least it’s short.

Just had a Justice League-esque “Wait, how long is this thing?” moment when I glanced at my percentage of completion. Wasn’t expecting a 650-pager!
