‘…the stillness was almost uncanny, one could imagine oneself on a dead planet – that we were standing, not on the earth, but on the moon’s surface; everything was so still and cold and dead and unearthly, with an absolute silence which one felt as broken by nothing but wild nature’s storms since the beginning of the world.’

That quote from Bend it like Beckham keeps coming into my head while reading this.

“You’re mad. You’re all bloody mad.”

(Said affectionately. I love the utter morbidness and dark toxicity of this novel. How has this ever ever ever been translated into a ROMANCE????)

Everyone is so horrid in this, and I kind of love it 😂
