Joan Buell is reading Across the Rhine: The Things Our Fathers Saw-The Untold Stories of the World War II Generation-Volume VII
A compilation of oral histories as told by veterans of the ETO in WWII. Would have benefited from a narrative tying the stories together. Also, many passages were repeated word for word in two places.

Interesting collection of photos covering much of the history of Ipswich. I enjoyed it, because my ancestors, Lydia Perkins Bennett and Henry Bennett settled there in the 1630's.

Not too interesting yet...recounts her powerlessness as a governess to effect change in her charges. I want to tell her to buck up and act like a governess!

Joan Buell is finished with Wish Me Luck As You Wave Me Goodbye (The Redcliffe Sisters #1)
I liked this book because it helps me understand pre WWII a bit more. It reflects how somehow life goes on in the midst of terrible times, but we cannot remain unchanged.

First half was a little tedious as all the characters are introduced, but becomes more interesting as people begin to figure out who the Count is! Rather a vigilante for justice, it appears. Definite contrasts between the good people and the evil.

Joan Buell is finished with Frankenstein
Not at all what I expected (had never seen a movie version in completion), but thoroughly enjoyed it. Horror in an unanticipated way.

I continue to pick this book up whenever I can...love that it is easy to pick up after a week and carry on. The silly characters are fun, and Dickens' writing amazes me.

Slow progress due to life, not the book.Growing to like characters more, especially Sam Weller. Nice light reading, which I need right now.

So far so good! I believe this is my first Sherlock Holmes book and I am enjoying it.

Dropping this to a 3 star. Guess Sherlock takes some getting used to..but I will try others.

Dropping this to a 3 star...maybe Sherlock Holmes takes some getting used to. I am probably not the first to diagnose him with bipolar disorder?
