Read when I was younger, there were some interesting elements that made me think to look for it again. First, was travel through mirrors. Second, was the assassin training and fight choreography. The rest of the book is ok, the world is believable, it flows, the writer can write, but the perspective of a young woman is jarring and not quite right.

I liked the first chapter. Then, it became about the vietnam war and fishing on the canadian border. I put it down and will try to pick it back up.

So, been reading a bunch of scifi and fiction but have been too busy to update my goals on goodreads. I'll try to catch up the statistics when I have some more time and it interests me.

Was hoping for no more Lex and got 100% Lex. Getting through it with breaks.

Great Libowski, Star Wars, Name of the Wind, this book has all of the recent literary references. Being set in Atlanta and read by Nick Poedehl, I wouldn't be surprised if Aleron Kong made an appearance too. Need to get this guy a Pixel phone though, Siri and iPhone are sooo last decade!

So far, so good. Jam packed with modern and biblical references, this book feels like an Andrew Rowe book (especially, with Nick Podehl narrating).

A smart start, well structures. Not sure that I care about the characters but the story is sci-fi.

Dave is on page 1300 of 1631 of The Cycle of Arawn: The Complete Trilogy
This is a trilogy in one set. The White Tower, and 2 others. The author has a great sense of adventure and the drive for finding artifacts and growing as individuals. He has interesting characters, a good magic system, and complex and unique world building with mythos and history and politics.

Well, I'm grateful that I wasn't born into the Sedaris family. The author is pretty much the exact opposite of me in every way. Our interests definitely don't mesh. His extroverted imposition on other people just doing their job seems rude to me. All for a selfish need for a human connection.
The writing is compelling and brave but pointless and useless. The stories flow very well from one to another. TBC

This book is quite different from my usual. Haven't read the author before. First chapter is slow and weird.

So far, I really like this book 1 of what appears to be a very long series. Good characters, funny writing, good fantasy feel. It has a magic system that is consistent and interesting. I can't tell if it's in the Forgotten Realms setting but feels like it could be. The character is presented with constant problems that he, a wizard, uses cleverness and intelligence to resolve (as appropriate for his class).

onward and upward. Author starts will a decent separation of elves from humans, which I appreciate. Too many authors turn elves into humans with pointy ears.

Dave is on page 250 of 434 of Author in Chief: The Untold Story of Our Presidents and the Books They Wrote
The author's section on FDR seemed very short to me, He focused a lot on Truman and seems to have a great disregard for JFKennedy as an author and academic. Still a very valuable read, but there seems to be a reverence for writers and historians and journalists that isn't backed up. I also had trouble understanding which Roosevelt and which Kennedy the author was talking about because of jumping around.

An interesting read that gives me a lot of leads to biographies that I might want to pickup. Wilson and TRoosevelt's first books seem promising as did US Grant and JQAdams.
