Bounty Hunter: The Black Tulip Chronicles
this surprised me. it was a fun fantasy novel about a scrappy girl who dresses like a scroungie boy (for safety). that has to constantly be hustling for money to pay for a bracelet she thinks protects her. there is a king trying to do what’s best for his kingdom that is looking for a tulip girl, there’s is a little bird

The Rom-Commers
didn’t love it but it got me through a delayed flight. some f bombs main character has been a care giver for ten years. i didn’t like her relationship with her sister (didn’t think her sister could care for her dad) ten years?! the author she goes to help also never really connected with me or her (til the end)

Six Swans (Delavan Brothers Book 1)
solid 4. interesting twist on the six swans fairy tale. it was good, just a little too much description for me. skimmed a tiny bit.

The Booklover's Library
great WWII story about book library’s (you had to be single to work there. not widowed or childless, you had to be single), about billets (for children), about love after loss, and love of family. nice book

The Orphan Collector
Interesting story about the Spanish flu. Actually pretty horrible how quickly people died. Pia’s dad goes to war, her mother gets the flu and dies, and 13 year old Pia is left to care for twin baby brothers with no food and her mother’s body in the apartment.

Once Upon a Broken Heart (Once Upon a Broken Heart, #1)
Fantasy where nobody is to be trusted. There are little dragons, Faes, vampires, poison drinks and other things, magic books, left me hanging, now I need to read the next one!

Forget Me Knot (Happy in Honey Hill #1)
This was good, a different twist for a romcom. Clean fast read.

Happiness for Beginners
I quit reading this on vaca then came back to it. 32 yr old recently divorced decides to go on a 3 week backpacking trip/find yourself experience. She gives her brother’s friend a ride (he is also enrolled in the experience). He is ten years younger, and in love with her. There was some language. She did find herself and figure out her relationship with her brother and mother.

One Dark Window (The Shepherd King, #1)
Very dark gothic. There were cards that held power, an infection that could turn your blood black and a girl who got the infection, touched a magic card, and then had a soul move into her head (that was old and could turn into a monster). The first part was tough to get through ..kinda weird and took some figuring out. Then the ending did not finish the story.

The Secret Orphan
It bugged me how it was written. It dragged at the start, then picked up then it was just flat. I wondered what the story was about in the beginning. Too much back story. The main female character, Elenor, had a lot happen to her before she turned 20. Rose was like a 7 year old and she was playing Beethoven?

The Dictionary of Lost Words
Very interesting to learn how the dictionary came to be. The story was nice. The end was kinda meh. There was a lot of suffragette issues and women’s rights were non existent.

The Invisible Bridge
I read and read and I was at 30%. I seriously thought it was about over. Then I realized the war hadn’t even come in to play. This is so slow. I skimmed til 50% then had to quit. Andrus fell in love with a ballet teacher 9 years older than him (her daughter was closer to his age). He is a poor architect student. She has lots of secrets and can’t return to Budapest.

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches
Didn’t love this. Language ruined it for me. Skimmed a lot. Idea of the book was fun. It sure wasn’t a YA book. Didn’t finish it.

Beyond That, the Sea
About a little girl that was sent to America during the war. The two boys (one older, one younger) that she lived with. It was interesting at first but then got too soap operaish for me.

What a strange book. Kind of an Agatha Christi And Then There Were none, story. At times I really didn’t like it but I hung in there. Also some Sixth Sense stuff involved.

Seeds of Glory and Ruin (A Mage's Influence #1)
3 1/2 stars. Definitely a YA book. I was good but just was missing something. The concept was interesting that everyone had some kind of gift that would get activated when they turned about 17. Airline and cadence are sister with some kind of powers everyone wants. I skimmed some but still interested in next book
