This book contains two stories: the story of the HeLa cells and the story of the Lacks family. I think this is a book worth reading, but it is not a book I feel comfortable rating.

Absolutely loving the nonsensical bickering dialogue between the gods. Madeline Miller has my heart with Greek myth retellings so I was wary about this but it’s so much fun.

This is absolutely one of the most engrossing books I've read in a long time. Will be top 5 read of the year for me.

I'm so sorry but I hate this book and this narrator so much. Sticking it out because a friend swore I would like it.

Happy Place is my favorite Emily Henry book, and Wyn is my favorite book boyfriend of all time. SWOON.

This is a nearly perfect book.

I've read this series half a dozen times at this point, and Finnick Odair is one of my favorite characters of all time. I feel so tenderly toward him.

So far this appears to be an extremely horse girl book, and I mean that very positively, but I cannot take a single more conversation when men insist that a girl not riding a horse side saddle is not ladylike. I simply do not care!

Yes I am reading this for the second time in two weeks.

The mark of a good book is that it's something I'm rushing to finish. The mark of a book that speaks to my soul is that it turns into something I read as slowly as I can so I can savor every minute of it.

I haven't been this into a book in years. I'm not a thriller expert, but I have absolutely no idea what happens next and I love it.

As I reread this, I keep thinking about a specific quote in Hannah Gadsby’s Nanette:

“I don’t hate men. … I don’t even believe that women are better than men. I believe women are just as corruptible by power as men, because you know what, fellas, you don’t have a monopoly on the human condition, you arrogant fucks. But the story is as you have told it. Power belongs to you.”

On my third reread of this and I think it’s interesting that the first response to women becoming more physically powerful than men is to sever their access to men and children even if there is no prior record of the woman hurting or wanting to hurt men or children - just knowing that it is possible is enough. Why do we not take this approach with men now?

Instead of "Sex with Presidents," this should be called "Presidents who raped people." Also, I hope Grover Cleveland is rotting in hell.

Never before has a character more whiny or unlikeable or bratty than Maggie!!!
