Don't they need a parental okay or something for this? No paperwork or sign off either? So many red flags

This 16-year-old girl referred to someone as her work husband. and he's in college. Ne isn't the love interest but it gave me the ick.
All three of these friends work at different stores and somehow consistently have lunch breaks at the same time? And that they're training a new hire 6 days before Christmas.
And now she's just annoying me.
Kinda solidifies why I don't read YA, it's just not relatable to me anymore.

I keep trying to push through and I only have an hr left buttttt omg there's no connection between the two and there's only telling and I feel so disconnected to the characters. It seems so forced and very this then this then this and it jumps forward. There's not any pining for each other and it just feels fake. I shoulda put it down like 20% in but I was hoping it'd get better

I keep forgetting I was reading it, was trying and failed to pay full attention with the audiobook. Wasn't really vibing or super invested in it and I'm trying to dnf more.

I am gonna finish it at some point but I can't get back into this after reading the chain

I gave it a shot, longer than I probably should have. None of the stories were even spooky, it read like literary fiction short stories I had to read for school. They ended right when things were starting to get good too. Out of over 100 pages, the first story was the only one I still remember.

There's such a disconnect between the main character and the reader that I didn't care what happened. The writing style was impersonal and such long flowery languages that seemed pretentious and show-offy love of classics (multiple were mentioned in the first 30 pages).

The narrator is pretentious, whiny and kind of annoying. It didn't initially bother me but the further I got the less I wanted to pick it up.

Halfway through and they still haven't gone back to the house. It kind of seems like she's been saying the same thing over and over for the entire book so far. And i already know what the house did. Constantly thinking of DNF-ing but I'm still a bit curious about what is going to happen in the house. More curious about the future than the past.

The main character reminds me of the MC from The House Across The Lake and not really in a good way. The alcoholic who's forced to be at a lakehouse because xyz. And her entire attitude rubs me the wrong way. Like college was how many years ago? They both have full careers now, it's time to let go of college drama.

I'm getting progressively more pissed at science and medical's lack of knowledge of women and how medicine effects us.....

I'm like 1/4 through and I have so many basic questions... it feels like I picked up the second book in a series and missed the world building. Or maybe it's just all going over my head.
1. How do they manage to write these letters in a time/place the other will see? Out of all time??
2. What even is the war? All I know is they're on opposite sides.

The way he describes Weena as little/having childlike curiosity/ calling her Little Weena while simultaneously saying things like I resolved to take her back to my time, "she was exactly like a child" how he didn't come all this time for mini flirtations and having romantic undertones gives me the creeps.
I get he's trying to reinforce the fact they're small people and mostly carefree but could been done diffently.

I keep thinking about how the air might have been so bad he wouldn't be able to survive, like ik the earth heals itself but in 800,000 years? (If earth still exists)

Also the short attention span of the people in the future..... I feel like we may already be getting there.

I can't help thinking that a lot of the references and sayings mentioned won't be around by the time this book is supposed to take place. It takes me out a bit each time.

I fully intend to finish this but im all halloweened and short story-ed out. The writing is so atmospheric and unique it's easy to get lost in it.

I'm going to dnf because it switches between 4 different characters (I think) but you only get a couple pages at a time. I just can't get into it or remember the snippits.

I swear if this book uses mental illness as an excuse.....

I'm going to DNF it for now because she works at the same place as me and it makes me stressed and takes me out of the story.

DNF because im not feeling it right now and its due back at the library. I'll probably come back and finish it later

I have a burning hatred for Victor. Also I'm not really a fan of all the shifting viewpoints. The chapters are so short it's almost like a constant whiplash.

However, I am really enjoying the story so far.

Okay. So while reading this I've learned a lot about Black history we weren't taught in schools and idk why I'm surprised about this but apparently Brown v Board then Ruby Bridges then people weren't happy but integration happened isn't actually how things went down. There was soooo much more to it.
