Listening to the audiobook. What a wild ride!

I don’t know why I’ve had such a hard time getting through this. By all rights I should be totally into it! It’s a good story! But I’ve struggled to stay interested the whole way.

I’ve gotta make September a ‘finish the books you’ve already started’ month but I’m also including all the books I’ve already got checked out from the library that I haven’t gotten to yet and you know what? No one can stop me.

After reading The Troop a few years back, I am deeply concerned for this dog. Also I really hate it when horror (or any book) leans in to the depiction of fat people as grotesque like it does for Luke’s mom. There are many ways to make a person repellant without taking shots at how they look.

I’m not hating this, but it’s one of those books where I spend the whole thing trying to determine what fandom this was fanfiction for before the characters got renamed. It just has that feel. That’s not a dig; I read and enjoy a lot of fanfic.
