Loved the unexpected introduction

A book recommended by a bookseller - pop sugar 2024 reading challenge.
I am reading this book till in the end, although I don't like it. References to Jane Eye's other mad woman aside, I still don't like. It is slow and repetitive and I know it is supposed to be a life I am holding in my hands, but it is also my life I am using to read this book.

Finished the first half of this book

Reading 1st chapter of the ebook and it is already so sad and brutal that I am not sure that I can continue reading. Especially juxtaposed with Duterte’s “happy” family pictures on Wikipedia!

Paige is Helen and Helen is Paige….(sigh)

I do not like stories like that. So Paige is not the daughter and Poppy is not the granddaughter

Helen does not exist.

At page 528 I suspect Sarah-Jane

Currently reading 公主傳奇之大考驗 which is not available as a book on goodreads.

Instead of verbal communication, Theresa, a mother getting her children ready for school, practices non-verbal cues. I believe the non-verbal cues are hints or suggestions that the children can choose to ignore.

读了《狂人日记》和 《阿Q正传》

Worth a read. I would also be interested in reading a social commentary on the modern single men.

One of the saddest stories I have read. Particularly through the inner world of Gregor Samsa the traveling salesman we know that he loves his family even though they now find him disgusting and in fact may have just been treating him as a money making machine.
