The one child policy chapter is the reason I picked up the book. It’s refreshing to see a male writer interested in feminist terrain, writing about China’s gruesome attempts to control the means of reproduction. It wasn’t all new, but it was worth reading.

Great chapter. Many mentions of old learnings — deindustrialization that hit home for me growing up in the rust belt and starting my career in manufacturing.

New learning for me was about the Industrial Party (the new fascists) in China and their love of Liu Cixin’s The Three Body Problem.
