There is hinting happening in relation to the FMC’s special nature. However, she has no actual emotional depth at this point. Everything is written onto the page instead showing the reader or making them feel what Aris is feeling. Character development is very shallow at a quarter of the way through the book.

Not sure how much I’m liking it because of these really almost plagiaristic components. Always a big fan of trials but the plot seems messy so far. It’s not the best structured pacing wise. Plot feels either too fast or too slow now. Finding myself having to re-read whole sentences or phrases because the way they are written doesn’t initially make sense for the reader, which pulls me out of the story.

Liked the first 50 pages a lot, chapters 1-6. Different enough of a concept to be intriguing. However now that I am through chapter 12, I’ve seen a lot of what feels like piece-meals from every popular fantasy romance of the last decade. Bonding with winged creatures and people trying to kill you to bond instead. Fourth Wing. Arladan goat fur. Seems like Adarlan (TOG) with the letters mixed up. Violet eyes. ACOTAR.

Amazing! I think Lidia is Agent Daybright. I have this feeling that maybe Celestina could turn out to be bad in the end? We never suspected Micah in CC1, so that seems like a theme that could continue. Lots of connections to ACOTAR in this book. Super intrigued about Danika and what she was doing with all of the rebel stuff and the gallery before she died.
