the kind of story that depicts its difficulty through simplicity - the language is easy but accentuates its emotional punches very effectively. the brothers picking up "every trick of evil and cruelty merely to survive" is a very apt description on their loss of innocence. i'm not sure that all of its depravity is necessary, but almost every action is made with reason.
