I’m not sure how I feel about this one. She’s on the edge of unlikeable. She’s mean and petulant, more 16 than 26.

I’m still waiting to find out what happened to her. And I’m confused about this world. Do humans know about paranormals? There absolutely no information on Necromancer society. It’s is going to disappointing if there is no world building.

It’s going to get angsty from here.

Argh... Who thinks it’s a good idea to go talk to someone who reports you for breaking and entering? After knowing a store has been broken into, and they still walk in? This is supposed to be a smart person who oddly isn’t sufficiently creeped out that someone left a pigs heart under the floorboards.

DNF: lots of independent body parts moving around. The MCs “spunkiness” was grating and felt forced. Not for me.

DNF at 50%. This is not funny. Her comments are racist/speciest, insulting, and rude. I liked the plot but her running commentary severely detracts from my enjoyment of the story as a whole. This is the first book I have read by this author and I’m afraid that if this type of humor runs through other series then it is not for me.

This is weird. It's as if Merry has completely forgotten what she is. She's more horrified over her aunt than she usually is and why haven't they found a way to fund themselves already? They have been out in the human world for years now and she should already have a way to support her people. This already feels tedious.

There are too many nemesis against the hero, and the obstacles seemingly insurmountable. And the hero’s personality really grates on my nerves. I’m really close to DFN.

It’s the last hour of this book Darius is still a petty jerk with designs on revenge. People who thinks like he does are generally not good people. She deserves better. There is not enough time left in the book for him to eat sufficient amount of crow and grovel to make me believe he deserves a relationship with her.

I'm so frustrated right now. I have to put it down.
