Not as engaging as the first book, to start.

Chapter 30 and the religious stuff is front and center.

Can’t put it down. Less than halfway through … how am I going to go to work tomorrow?? Why am I typing this instead of reading??!!

Stuck 2/3s if the way along.

It’s been years since I read this but I’m finding that I remember some phrases and sentences verbatim! I must have read this book dozens of times as a preteen. I hope the movie does it justice.

Really enjoyed the first 350 or so pages, but the newer stories are either trying too hard or just aren’t capturing the right tone, or the right balance between narrative and comedy, maybe? I still have nearly 200 pages to go … I’m still smiling at points so I’m going to keep reading.

I put this book down ages ago, and now I can't find it anywhere. Did I finish it? I have no idea.

AGAIN NO TRIGGER WARNINGS SOOOO UNFAIR I was completely claustrophobic reading the claustrophobic part and there are MORE. BUGS. THERE ARE MORE BUGS. Dear *gah* this is so unfair

Also this one feels a bit silly so far, at 51% complete (thank you kindle for that stat). I’m seriously more freaked out by the YOU KNOW WHATS.

At first I couldn't figure out why someone would want to write Harry Potter again. And then I realised this was a dumber, less noble, less magically talented Harry Potter. With a vampire roommate. Oh yeah, and he's bi. *That's* pretty different.

Who is this book for? Lex is 16, but the language is a bit over the top for the parents of young teens, who would want to read this, and how many older teens want to read about a 16-year-old. Don't get me wrong -- I'm really liking it. Just not sure who it's really intended for.

Reading for a book club and really liking so far. Thinking about reading with google translate ... Haven't read oscar wao, hope it's good after this!

I'm whizzing through this story ... Alternately frustrated and angered by the actions of some characters and feeling a strange heartache for the pain of others. Makes me want to hold my baby tight. Really excited to see if this ends in a more interesting way than just tragedy and Big Bad Big Brother.

Started slow big I'm really warming to this odd tale. Full of loneliness and Englishness and misunderstandings as Harold is trying to come to terms with his past failures by succeeding at this one obsessive and odd task. I can't wait to see who he meets next, rather than anticipating if Queenie will be alive to receive him at the end of his journey of if his wife or son will be.
