In my mid-30 s the romance I am interested in is what Mma R and Mr JLB M have , especially the lines - 'not the least of which was that it would keep her happy. And that he knew was what he wanted above all else.'

I took a respite in the form of reading a book in the no 1 ladies agency series. But I am back to my ww2 chronicles and this sounds like another heavy read based on the foreword.

Picking this up after many months

Brilliant book
I am at loss for words for what everyone must have felt that day .

As someone who second guesses decisions a lot, I am intrigued to know how Eisenhower decides on such a burdensome decision.

Seeing remnants of operation PLUTO at Shanklin has be diving down this book.

There is something heart warming about two elderly people solving a crime

I love these books as much as I did as a child. Its infuriating to read as a parent myself, how often these kids are left to fend for themselves by the adults in the story. For eg Aunt Fanny could have accompanied them in this story to the lighthouse as Joanna could have taken care of the two men (yep problematic in its own way) and the house. I understand the plot has to go on , but this just doesn't sit right.

No one can set the stage like Christie

I love how big bombs are thrown casually around lol

Excited for the next 100 pages

Obtuse enough to be a menace , but not stupid enough to be innocuous

I am so appalled at the patronising attitude towards Czechoslovakia

I saw a 6 minutes long video on the Nuremberg party rally including the mock war and Swastika air force formation. Reading these last 50 pages makes so much sense of exhibits at the Churchill war museum, which highlighted the difference between him and Chamberlain.
