Found it at a thrift store. The cashier gushed about it and warned me that she bawled her eyes out. I can see why; the themes of misogyny, father issues, and sexual assault are rampant and overt. I like the starkness of it.

I didn't expect to find a possible contributing factor for Wicca and New Age's obsession with deifying motherhood in this book, but reading through the examples of pulp horror doing the exact opposite, I can't see where that reaction might have come from.

I just finished the transcript of Henry Mercer's interview, taken at Jonestown, and had to take a breather. The scope of what this man had seen and done, the life he lived before meeting Jim Jones, is breathtaking.

In a just world, I would be reading a biography of his life instead of a summary in a book about a cult.

This book is entirely too easy to read.

I'm not very far in, but already I've found out that I have to set alarms when I read this book. Otherwise I'll find myself running several minutes over on my lunch break, explaining myself to a boss who looks like they're trying their best not to laugh.
