Another great find. Enjoying every page especially the feel of a hard bound book in my hands again and the sublime act of turning pages.

Visiting my daughter in Fredericksburg has brought me back to another piece of Civil War history. I never tire of learning more about the conflict. Think about the ramifications of important correspondence taking a month to get back and forth between the U.S.and Great Britain (see the illustration "Waiting for an answer"). When I was a teenager Kennedy & Khrushchev had the hot line.

Just getting started. I can already tell that this is going to be terrific.

Kept my interest. Senators denial regarding the Sugar Trust meeting was informative.

Reading The Proud Tower at the same time. Great way to get a complete view of the world at that time.
