It was a really good read. I felt like it could have been edited down a bit, and sometimes it was tough to follow the characters off an audio book (visually seeing the names probably would have helped). But quite the saga with some cool threads coming together I didn't see coming.

I didn’t really enjoy, as I felt that the lead female was abused by everyone, included Ng who she ended up with.

A well told story. Harrowing at times. Combining the disadvantages of being both a woman and a black person in the 1940s in America.

This book feels like it was written by a man who doesn’t know much about the female body. No way is a woman that is under 140 pounds a size 12, 14, or 16. I’m a size 14 at 190 pounds… And the amount of exposition about breasts and pointing nipples feels weird.

I couldn’t finish this one. It was slow and got odious. 57 year old man presses his attentions on a young school teacher in her office and it works. Sorry, not buying it. I just wasn’t interested in the two men.
