I didn’t really enjoy, as I felt that the lead female was abused by everyone, included Ng who she ended up with.

A well told story. Harrowing at times. Combining the disadvantages of being both a woman and a black person in the 1940s in America.

This book feels like it was written by a man who doesn’t know much about the female body. No way is a woman that is under 140 pounds a size 12, 14, or 16. I’m a size 14 at 190 pounds… And the amount of exposition about breasts and pointing nipples feels weird.

I couldn’t finish this one. It was slow and got odious. 57 year old man presses his attentions on a young school teacher in her office and it works. Sorry, not buying it. I just wasn’t interested in the two men.
