Did this not have an editor? The writing is clunky, and there are some phrases repeated awkwardly for no purpose I can ascertain. Like - two sentences in a row using the same phrasing/description. Like the author came up with a better context for the description and used the same turn of phrase, but forgot to delete the "unused" one.

Ok. So first of all, I'm really gonna need the guy doing the narration in the audiobook to stop saying "Dee Eff Ay See" instead of "Dee-Fack".

Second. I don't think I misheard when the main char is told he's gonna be promoted and he (an E5) says "oh i'm going to be a first sergeant?" (E8). What? In what world would he ASSUME he'd be going there instead of SSG?

Was enjoying this for awhile. A bit rough right now cuz I really really hate war-time Dorothy. Thankfully there are enough sections that aren't from her POV that it's still tolerable.

i really hate warthrop. like a lot. if his attitude toward will henry doesn't change, or we don't see some serious mitigating qualities, i doubt i will read the sequel to this book.
