oh no. some of these are starting to read like book reports/school essays. which is FINE, but not at all what i want to be reading. skim city time.

I am fascinated at the Sweet Valley high essay. I’m surprised she never writes that books like this made her wish that she was white, because that was all I wanted to be as a young girl.

Having some trouble being ok with the way this book is written. Was at first impressed as they mention using the term partner instead of husband, as the book has been revised, but they are so damn adamant that ANYONE can breastfeed, just don’t stop trying! They lay the guilt on THICK, and the anti-interventions and medicalization of birthing is lambasted to a ridiculous degree.

Ok self. Get in shape already. Because this book is straightforwardly depressing. "But in truth no single disease leads to the end; the culprit is just the accumulated crumbling of one's bodily systems while medicine carries out its maintenance measures and patch jobs."

Good god, got to the part with Vegas and started fucking sobbing
