Wow! Gwendolyn is the most annoying, selfish protagonist of all the novels I have ever read. While Austen's Emma has a strong streak of haughtiness but is, essentially good at heart, G. is Egoism (with a capital 'E'!) itself.
The only positive aspect of her character (if I had to name one): she likes to be independent instead of being kept by someone wealthy.

About the length of Persuasion or Northanger Abbey just to tell the reader the story of Daniel and Gwendolyn until the moment they met. :D

I expected fluffy chick lit, I got a nice insight into Asian culture. I like that.

I feel the need to point out that I would never, ever, EVER, EVER!!! buy a P&P copy with that awful film version on its cover. So if that edition of P&P pops up (even though I did not chose it in my review!), don't think my taste it that awful!

In the unlikely event that you should have followd my reading content these past two years: I know I'm reading and reading and reading Jane Austen ad nauseum. But I can't get away from it. Love the novels too much. I have a plan, though. I have assembled all my unread books and plan to make an effort reading more from that pile instead of going for the Jae Austen book that has never left my bedside tabe(desk/bag. ;-)
