I started reading this book in 2021 and I’m still crawling my way through. In that time I’ve read a dozen other nonfiction books on polyamory and relationship dynamics. This was frequently recommended, but talking queer theory with the person who first recommended it is more captivating than the read itself. Trodding on!

Rereading my formative favorites from my bookshelf throughout the year. The paperback is worn out from decades of rereading. This was one of the earliest adult fantasy novels I read in elementary school, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Starting new book club read! The writing is beautiful so far, and I’ve highlighted so many passages.

Omg. Just started the audiobook and this is thus far HILARIOUS. Here’s some ridiculous balm for the soul.

Oh god this is so cute.

Except... not always.” How do you compensate for being pulled in too many directions, feeling scattered in your life, and taking on too many responsibilities? Sarcasm. Deep sarcasm. Hi, Jamie, ILU.

Listening to the audiobook. About 2 hours from the end and I keep tearing up for good reasons. My heeeeart.

“But if you look closely at the Marketplace on a cold January night when the moon is full, students will recount, hundreds of years hence, some say you can still see the silhouette of Jacob’s bright red lips whispering, “Motherfucker” into the night.”

“Don’t you know,” she said pityingly, “That everyone has a fairy land of their own.”

Mild spoilers. There is a love triangle outside the main pairing. How did I forget HOW AWESOME this was? I remember loving the resolution, but the scene details are everything I want from a love triangle. Cats and kittens, this is the kind of shit that happens in the theater. Don’t assume this is pure fluffy fictionalized world. The superpowers? That’s likely fiction. The interpersonal? So very theater.

The book is so good I don't want to sleep. Also, 70% into this novel... it's time to throw your hands in the air and kermit flail.
