An 'okay' read. One of those books where I really disliked one of the main characters, I suppose that makes you work at trying to understand them, was torn between being annoyed and yet hoping that they would do something to redeem themselves. The other main characters are well realised, I feel that I would recognise them if I were to meet them.

Finished! A bit of a chore to get through. Not as enjoyable as other Carol Goodman books that I have read. Interesting history of Herculanium and the eruption of vesuvius. Story a little forced.
