Holy shit, how is this book this good only six pages in? I already love everything about it: its concept, its main character, its structure, its themes, its sense of humor, and, most especially, its prose style. WTF. So, so good!

So far Maria Dahvana Headley is kicking Seamus Heaney's ass. It's not even a contest.

Meh.

I absolutely loved THE THIRTEENTH TALE, so I was super excited to read Setterfield's second novel! Unfortunately, that excitement has dwindled. This book is . . . I don't want to say boring . . . but . . . it's boring :(

The real life Piper is even less appealing than her fictional counterpart on Netflix's popular new show "Orange Is The New Black," but, so far, her story is super interesting . . .

Holy shit, 1 of the child protagonists just put on BLACKFACE and now everyone is calling him the N-WORD! I know this was written in/about a different time and place, but WTF?! I was not prepared for such casual racism in this so-called children's "classic." Ugh!

There's a fine line between a work of dramatized nonfiction and fiction, and Mezrich doesn't just toe the line--he hurtles past it, screaming and failing his arms, like his pants are on fire. Sheesh.

I really enjoy this book, but, much like the first book in the trilogy, it has NO. OVERARCHING. PLOT. And, after 1455 pages of what is, essentially, just character development and dead-end tangents, my enjoyment is starting to be tinged with a feeling of pleasedearlordletthisbookendletitendletitend! But I still have almost 400 pages to go. Brutal.

I don't know why Austen's juvenilia is so often overlooked because it is fabulous!

This book is pretty awful. I don't know why they picked this Aiken woman to finish Austen's work, but she's pretty terrible at it. Only a morbid sense of curiosity keeps me reading :\

This is so bizarre.

REALLY liking the location/characters/atmosphere, but NOT liking how obvious the mystery/supernatural element seems to be. Maybe I'm wrong though. Maybe the plot will end up surprising me . . . I hope!
