I'm excited to get into this story because, unlike the books in the duology, this is my first time reading it. I'm picking up on the influence of traditional African storytelling traditions. This was prevalent all throughout the duology, but it's even more so here because our MC's voice is speaking to the audience as a storyteller. It's very Anansesem in that way. I really hope this keeps up for the whole book.

I guess just like Good Stab, I hadn't considered the fact that he takes on the form of what he feeds on the most, and that this applies to colonizers.

I can only imagine the horror at slowly and unknowingly becoming the very thing you hate most.

This is my third time reading this book and this scene still gave me whole body shivers and bright tears to my eyes. I don't even know how to articulate the power in her giving back the people their stories while addressing them individually in their native tongue.

This is why I read so much BL cause why did she have to get pregnant and have a baby *immediately* after getting married, as if that's the only way a straight couple can have a fulfilling relationship?? ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

Don't even get me started on the Twilight imprinting/fated mate moment.

The men in this book are so disgusting I'm starting to get irritated at my own bf for his mere existence at this point 😂

I have a fundamental issue with her approach to hunting. I guess after enough time you stop caring, but if you want to be able to stay somewhere long enough, wouldn't it make more sense to eat the people outside of your own department???

Why are you muching on the people closest to you when you can eat the people you would typically have no connection, making it harder to point fingers to you as the culprit??

She said about the leacherous man in his 40s. I'm kind of obsessed with the way she uses the word "boy" the same way guys use "girl" or "female" to refer to women. It soothes something in my very soul.

I haven't actually started the book yet but I very much appreciated the author's note. I don't need one, but I always appreciate one that is well thought out and acknowledges the stories inspiration and it's influence on the culture in which in becomes a part of.

I'm fucking cackling right now cause she said not everything is accurate and he immediately thought "yes, diamonds on the first date then, perfect." He's such a fucking dork I love him so much.
