This book is fascinating! It offers a look at what life could be like for cittadini and patrician daughters whose families decided they could not afford dowries for them and thus sent the to convents. Needless to say, many of them did not have a calling for the monastic life. Isabella Campagnol studies how they used fashion to brighten their lives, sometimes to subvert authority. Enjoy!
