It’s gripping, though I think I figured it out at around 25% in. Find my final review later to see if I was right.

SAA has always been my favorite non-Romantasy author. Her way of incorporating the reader into realistically magical worlds in NC have had me enthralled since I first picked up Garden Spells as a 20 something year old in search of a family in lonely Florida.

This book is setting up to be just as enchanting as the rest.

Audiobook and eye reading. ARC & ALC

Okay half way through this. Loving it but seriously make sure you’re not eating or smelling anything strong. Make sure you have your iron stomach. Lots of talk of worms and maggots and pus.

Okay so this book is literally and abundantly about women being overlooked, particularly in STEM fields. Cool-so tell me why on pg 103 Quincy literally says his opinion meant more to her than that of her girlfriends? Like, at least explain that it’s because he’s in the field but it wasn’t particularly tied to meteorology, just woman bashing in general. 🤔

Switches to audiobook

So far so good.

Struggling with the plot and my engagement. But the setting is immaculate.

When nothing happens but everything does as well. I am enjoying these on audio while watching baseball most nights.

I don’t know if it’s in spite of or because of being a Middle school teacher, but books that try to speak in current teen speech annoy me. They take me out of the story and it never seems genuine. Also, how long will the books have staying power when they resort to that?

And that holds true for pop-culture references, as well. As much as I love the Trav and Taylor reference… it won’t work for long

It’s good but it’s not engaging so far, if that makes sense. I’ll finish this though, a little at a time

So far, this is my favorite of all Katherine Center Books I’ve read. Hopefully it continues to impress.
