I am obsessed. Also, this narrator (Toni O'Rourke) is amazing and may even have surpassed Aiofe McMahon as my favourite Irish narrator.

Cosy fantasy seemed like a good antidote after harsh reality. But whyyy is Kiela so rude and grumpy? She's really getting on my nerves.

Here we go!... Honestly I don't have high hopes for this one but I like Tairn and Andarna and it's included in my Storytel subscription, so...

"He's a fan of those Scandinavian crime dramas."
"They're great!"
"Yeah, if you don't mind people staring wistfully at fjords for an hour while they're supposed to be solving a murder."
Well, that's them told. 😆

Honestly a bit nonplussed by this one. It's kind of distanced and kind of funny in a mildly absurd way, and then suddenly: violence. I feel disconnected. *shrug*

The Three-Body Problem (Remembrance of Earth’s Past, #1)
I bought this for my partner a couple of years ago, hoping he would read it first and could explain the more science-y bits to me, but I'm sick of waiting so I'm diving in... And I'm intrigued. I just hope it doesn't go too far over my pretty little head.

Let's see if I get through it this time. I want to love this book and I feel like I *should* but it's definitely not something that grabs me right away.

Was interviewed about my book and upcoming poetry reading on local radio today. It was fun and I'm still feeling a little buzzed. If anyone of my friends is interested in an ARC of my book, Murmurations, please send me a message! Official release date is 26/02.

I'm intrigued. But also super distracted by the narrator pronouncing gazebo like ga-zay-bo.

Off topic, but (listening to the audio book) why do Americans always pronounce Robin Hood as if it's one word? RObinhood. It's weird. And they all do it.

The Hike
I like it so far, the writing is good, as are the descriptions, and the characters are interesting. A bit hard to believe that someone who works as a GP would have to have their car break down before they realised that walking is good for you, though.. Doing it and knowing it are two different things.

Every Last Secret
I came across this book on my kindle and I honestly have no memory of buying it, or marking it tbr, have no clue what it's about or why I wanted to read it. Apparently I've had it since February 16th. It's a problem...

The Missing Sister (The Seven Sisters, #7)
Approaching this with some scepticism knowing there will still be one more book and it was partly written by Riley's son, but it niggles at me that I haven't completed the series and found out the mystery surrounding the sisters and Pa Salt.

Apparently I rated this back in 2016, but listening to it now I honestly have no memory of this story... I wonder if I accidentally rated the wrong book?

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (Hercule Poirot #4)
So I have in my possession an almost 50 year old second hand paperback version of this book, which is falling to pieces. Inside was a yellowed newspaper cutting from a Dutch newspaper from 1976 about the death of Agatha Christie, and inside the front cover is neatly written out list of characters and suspects. I love it. I just hope it doesn't disintegrate before I get to the end.

Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype
I'm just not sure about this book. It's interesting. I like the idea of using archetypical stories to reconnect with the wild self, and the author's analysis of the stories is apt, but soooo long-winded. I keep losing my focus, and feel like a lot of these could have been summed up in a few pages.

Doomsday Book (Oxford Time Travel, #1)
Almost 1/3 through and literally all that has happened is Kivrin is somewhere in the past and is sick, and in Oxford people are running about like headless chickens somehow completely unable to communicate with each other because of busy phone lines and fainting spells. How is this award winning sci-fi? If it wasn't included with audible I would have returned it already.

It really is a very interesting story and I like the setting, but oh my goodness the repeating of "something went wrong" and then he fainted again and then ooh what could he mean by something went wrong, for pages and pages and pages. In the words of Monty Python: get on with it!!

Seriously considering giving up on this too. Though I love most of what Gaiman does, and I've really tried to like this story, I think it may just not be for me.
