The show has brought me here because I want to be spoiled but--oof. This narrator is rough and the writing is mid. But story telling is spot on because I am still reading. 😅

I will always give Ali's book a read but this one is 200 pages too long and our 36 year old MMC said shartstain and jizzmuffin. Im still finishing it but 🫣

Not bad! I love a jealous mmc (for the first portion), and their chemistry is good. But I dont even really get the conflict besides her thinking she will want to leave. Especially since theyre boning and still somehow "holding back". Girl, no youre not. Lol. Youre moaning about how you love him and hes a vulnerable kitten now! Still fun! 😗

Im listening to this on audio and it is so much easier for me than when I tried reading it the last time. The narrator is amazing.

I got the audio to try and help me finish this but I am just not feeling the narrator on this one. Every time she talks she seems so out of breath. 😬 Also, its long af? I know they're chonky books, but almost 24 hours!? It might be a dnf for this one.

Yes, I am now listening to the audio less than a month after I read the physical book. Why? Because I have the memory retention of a goldfish and want to be prepared for bookclub.

Oh, man. This was cringe writing from the get go. I read some dark "problematic" works and do not care about the pearl clutching regarding the content. What I will clutch my pearls about is weak writing, and this was bad. Dnfing this because my tbr is too long to be reading lines like, "I gulped hard at my new reality." Blegh.

The politics, the betrayals, the slow burning. 🤌

So much better paced! I love sassy Verrako. I think if the second book had been a slightly /other/ alien vs. Basic man-with-marks it would have been a better order because poor Luka seemed blasé. Love our outdoor adventure in this one!

I will say this. There is soooo much dialogue. I get that is supposedly Knightleys strength (banter, apparently), but yeesh. All they have done is blather on with extended vocabularies so far. And they definitely dont like each other. I am interested to see how she spins them to lovers with believable chemistry. Also, give me more of the familiars.

It's not nearly as bad as some of the reviews would have me believe. The medical jargon and Britishisms are having me google every five seconds, though. We shall see!
