I didn’t finish. Normally I give Picoult’s books 5 stars. Not this one. I’m sure there’s an audience for this but I’m not in it n

Other readers might like this but it was not for me.

When I realized this was a golf memoir and not the author’s usual entertaining fiction, I stopped reading

I stopped about a quarter of the way in. For fans of Brooke Hayward and her parents, this might be interesting. I was bored.

I normally enjoy Irving's book, but this one was just too tedious to read. It will be one of the rare books that I start and don't finish.

What a dilemma. There is just enough of a story line to keep me interested in finishing the book, but the constant asides, and manic ravings of a drunk man, and flashbacks and side plots have me bored to death and frustrated to the point of tears. Nevertheless, I am persisting.

It took the book a few chapters to grab me, but once it grabbed me, I really wanted to stay up all night to finish it. Unfortunately, I have to work today.

I am struggling with this one. Doctorow has always been one of my favorite authors, and his Ragtime my all time favorite book, but I'm having to force myself through City of God. Too many narrators, too many odd narrative styles, too difficult to figure out who is who and what the heck is going on.

A good long read that holds my attention. I may even wish there was more when I finish it. Loving it so far.
