It’s gotten surprisingly meta

He’s so out of his mind it’s turning endearing

We’re making fun of the main guy right?? Right?? He’s out of his mind, right??

Unfortunately, I don’t have a broader context for this novel

I’m going to finish it against my better judgment so I can hate fully justifiably
It’s so boring and lowkey pretentious and moralizing, such a disappointment

surprisingly I’m enjoying it more than The Iliad

I’m bored to death and it’s just half of it

It still feels like the story is about to start soon
Even though it’s almost half of the novel
It’s a first RF Kuang novel that I don’t like all that much

So far the best part of the novel has been climbing up the wall free solo style

This is too similar to Wretch by the same author. It’s like the same story concepts but in different fonts.

I wish I liked it more

Sabina’s arc is fascinating

This is lots of fun; the dialogues are hilarious

It’s delightfully bizarre, macabre and confusing. Exactly as I expected. I love Eric Larocca.

It reads rather juvenile, I think it’s not a ya, but feels like it. The slowburnish beginning put me off even when cool things started happening.

Gabrielle de Lioncourt would’ve loved Maria

It has its moments but overall it’s very underwhelming. I guess classic German literature isn’t for me.

I’m missing the broader context of this novel and it’s affecting my enjoying of the book (lack of any enjoyment)
