When I began this book, I appreciated that it acted as an Encyclopedia, introducing us to dozens of inspiring women. Obviously the Clintons' intentions were to inspire us to further research our favorite women in greater detail on our own. However, it's gotten a bit overwhelming and rather like a log jam holding me back from starting and completing other books, so I've regrettably decided to put it aside for now.

(Note: Audiobook version ) I've read a few other books covering pre-historic Indus civilization to modern times and this has been one of the better ones. It's comprehensive as far as I can tell. Others have noted repetition of some info, but these 'lectures' can be listened to/read individually; I don't think it's wrong to repeat some details for context. Audio narration, however, is not one of Fisher's strengths.

On hold for now. Couldn't renew at the library.

I was in a reading slump but this book has gotten me out of it. I'm reading a library copy but I want one for my own personal library. The graphics/drawing/artwork is AMAZING. Unexpected is the extreme darkness and violence of the subject, though necessary and relevant to the overall theme. Karen, however, is not convincingly 10 years old. She's more mature and well adjusted than most grown people I know.

This book is crazy and so good. I can't even begin to guess what's going to happen. It's like a combination of Gaiman's American Gods, LaValle's Devil in Silver, and Carl Hiaasen's absurdity in general. So far, I love it.
