The narrator is awesome in her delivery. I think this book is very much written to read aloud and at points I think that the story may not work so beautifully in written form.

Today,August 6, is the 80 anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. This book covers a period from 1900-1977. Today, I am reading along and here I am in the book where it is 1945 and this very event happens. I had no idea it would come up. This is just one of several places in the book where it has had an immediate connection to me or my surroundings.

I love how this author is so forward thinking she is not following societal trends, she is preempting them The story starts out with the idea of repatriation of cultural objects from a museum. First published in 1966, this is early in (hopefully) a trend that became more prominent in the museum world decades later; in the late 20th century up to present day.

I love finding prophetic moments in older sci-fi. This one features a council that always meets in ‘online’ meeting - of course not using the word ‘online’ but that’s exactly what it is. Book written in 1966-67

it's good and quite captivating; pages flying by at this point. So linear. Jane is strong and smart, but smart enough? This story may be about to turn a sharp corner, I suspect. The author foreshadows ever so subtly.
