Classic fatalistic love story.

I can see why this is considered a masterpiece.

It's very difficult to read most of this book. He doesn't seem like at good person - at all.

I like the "real language" and honesty.

The story-is not what I was expecting. Its a great book. I'm glad I decided to purchase it.

Ghalen is a special person, in the truest sense of the word. He is way more mature than most people twice his age. And he has indeed lived a full life, already.

This book is obviously about family but it's more than just that. It's also about figuring life out.

it's hard taking all of this in, even though I'd already read about it and seen documentaries - as well as the critically acclaimed television series, Roots.

It has been worth the read to get to how he ended up establishing the MTV show, which was my introduction to him.

Good book! Its cool learning about other experiences, especially when they revolve around the early days of hip hop.

Dope book! It places the reader in the heart of the early hip hop culture.

The details are a bit much, at times. and Richie has been allowed to get away with way too much before something very drastic happens in the story.
