Min just found out that Ed has been cheating on her for quite a while with Annette, one of his exes. He described it as being two different people, not knowing that he was ruining something and someone that was very good and would have been good for him. She gave him everything, including her virginity, and he knew the whole time that she wasn't the only one.

Min and Al watched a bad movie and Min opened up to Al about sex. She hasn't with Ed yet, but she has been talking about what happened the night of the bonfire and in the park. It's funny to read this, because I have experienced these conversations with my friends before too.

Min and Ed have a plan to throw a birthday party for a movie star that Min likes. They had a fight about Ed saying "fag" and gay, especially with Al.

We see a small glimpse of Ed as a child, when he is talking about the toy trucks and how they got lost in the sand at the park. Min and Ed also had their first "fight", when Jillian, Ed's ex, was drunk yelling at Min and insulting her. Min made a new friend with Annette, Jillian's friend, until Min found out she was also Ed's ex. Min is finding out who Ed was and how he is to her, two different people.

Min is starting a relationship with Ed's sister Joanie. She mentioned it was like cooking with her own sister. She went to her first basketball game of Ed's, she didn't like it much. She especially didn't like the party and bonfire afterwards. She seems so distant whenever she is in a social situation like that.

You can tell that she is starting to pull away from her friends, and her friends don't like Ed much. There has been no talk of her family yet, but Min just met Joanie, Ed's sister. I really liked the very long description of what school is like. The author must have used memories from when they were in high school, it was very descriptive and vivid. I like the writing style, it just feels a little prolonged.

The tone and the way it is written reminds me of 13 Reasons Why. The book is kind of slow to start, I don't really see the conflict, it is just stating reasons why they broke up. I am not sure if there will be an interesting climax or not, but I think I will continue reading. The author is very good at descriptions, they are very detailed.

I read this book because I loved Milk and Honey. This one focuses more on physical aspects of relationships and the culture of her and her parents. I like this book so far, still very raw and deep. A bit confusing at times, but I still like to different sections that the book is split up in.

pg. 195 is the first her name is mentioned, I think. As I was reading, I noticed that she always uses her sibling's names, but I never once read hers. Social Services came to their door and Jeannette sent them away, the one thing that could help her the most. Her mom got a job but because of her parents' ways, it didn't help much. Her friend was arrested for stabbing her mom's boyfriend, she was also pregnant.

Jeanette gets in fights with the neighborhood kids. Her neighbor is the neighborhood prostitute, and she notices that they make a lot of money. I hope this isn't foreshadowing to her being a prostitute later in life for money, her dad should be getting a real job and put the family in a place where she doesn't have to consider this.

Jeannette and her family have lived in West Virginia for awhile. They were banished from Erma's house, but she sexually assaulted Brian anyway. They're house is garbage, and they have garbage in their backyard. No one except Jeannette has motivation. When their mom and dad left to go back to Phoenix, I really didn't think they would come back, but they did. Maybe the dad is a drunk because he was abused as a child.

Jeannette asked her dad to stop drinking for her birthday, he did for the summer, but soon became the angry drunk he was before. He bothers me. The things he teaches his children and his philosophies make me uncomfortable.

The family is living in Phoenix now. The mother likes religion and her art is prospering, the father hates religion and is an electrician now. It seems like this is the best their life has been so far, but I still find myself getting angry at the parents sometimes.

Jeannette had troubles with Billy, and he started shooting at them with a BB gun, and the other kids shot at him with a real gun. The cops came and expected both families at the courthouse the next morning, but the family went to Phoenix to their grandmother's house that night. Jeannette said they hadn't ran in a while, but this is breaking that streak.

Jeannette is talking about how her mom got a job at her school, but the other teachers and principal didn't agree with her teaching style. She let the kids have too much freedom and it was getting out of hand. Money is always tight, but Dad keeps taking the money and saying that he can handle the finances, but he just buys booze and prostitutes. The mom is too afraid to stand up to him, but tries to get money back.

Jeannette's parents are fighting about how they live. Jeannette explained that she broke their rule of saying that she was hungry, and that is what began the argument. The last thing she ate was margarine with sugar on it, her sister said it tasted like frosting.

Jeannette talks about moving to Blythe for the birth of her sister, Maureen. Then they moved to Battle Mountain and she is talking about how they lived and ate in the old railroad depot. Their life sounds filthy, unhealthy, and unsafe, but to Jeannette it seems like a fairy-tale and she finds every ounce of fun possible.

She was explaining how she loved being in the hospital after she got burned. How nice the nurses were, and how her family didn't really miss her but also didn't want her in the hospital. Her dad came and took her at one point, the nurses tried to stop him. She is now explaining how her family was nomadic and how she lived in the desert off of plants and grapes.

I am reading the story of how she was badly burned when she was younger. It is interesting to read about her parents and how they are okay with their situation, and her mom is criticizing her values when she asks if her mom needs help.

Kate Gilbert is on page 52 of 125 of Jesus with Dirty Feet: A Down-to-Earth Look at Christianity for the Curious Skeptical
Everts begins to talk about what "dirty feet" means. Jesus came down to us, he lived the same struggles we do and walked as a human for decades. He sacrificed everything he had, up to his life, for us, just to save us and show us that he really does care and love us.

This isn’t one of those books that has devotionals and speaks to Gods power, it’s just talking about Jesus as a person. Everts talks about the relationship to Judaism that Jesus had and the “I️ am” or “Yahweh” person he was to them. Jesus is God in the flesh that came down to live like one of us. Everts also talks about Christianity starting as Jesus just saying, come follow me, and people did.

I like how the book is split up into 4 chapters. Each of them are so relatable. She writes with so much detail that you feel you shouldn't be allowed to read it but at the end she talks about that fear. These words are truth and they are natural and we shouldn't be afraid to read them.

I went into this book completely blind. I hadn't heard any more than a few sentences about it. I didn't really know what I expected. It completely took me off guard- her attention to detail and the words you think you shouldn't read but yet you can't stop moving your eyes across them, it's mesmerizing. Kaur gets so much story into just a few words. I find that I don't feel sympathy, I don't really know what I feel.

Bethke talks about b omg freed from death by the cross and how we don’t have to keep trying to redeem ourselves or our sin, that has already been done. The best way we can worship God is rest in his grace. He also talked about God wanting glory for all things, not just Christian things. Anything with truth and anything he created he wants back and he wants glory for. An example is secular music vs. Christin music.

Bethke is finishing his talk on idolatry, explaining a relationship where his girlfriend was his God, his everything. When he lost her, he was sent into a spiral of depression and suicidal thoughts. Bethke is now talking about suffering. Suffering is there to help us, to show us that God is there for us in the trials. God doesn't give us a definitive answer, he tells us what suffering is not. It is not God leaving us
