This is a rarity for me, 300 pages read and I'm walking away. More review to come.

Beautifully drawn characters in lovely writing. It's me. By page 82 more negative energy than I wished to handle.

No, Mr. Dimarco, not, “The capital D is a choice.” . Deaf is capitalized to recognize a culture. If you feel, “beautiful details are tragically absent from the flat and linear scribblings of English on the page.”, it means your translator didn't do a good enough job showing English's beauty, e.g “How I learn new stuff.”.

About 1/3 through and enjoying it, but frustrated it keeps changing to finished.

Gorgeous short stories, deeply moving so I cannot read one after another. Five stories in, I will surely read all, but it will take a while.

My eBook says 389 pages, not the 700 plus, and a third of the way in, enjoying it thoroughly, main character Magdalen, lovely writing, nicely developed life challeng, interesting foil for Magdalen as she moves on...

Two chapters in, I'm thoroughly impressed!

Loved Meeks' "Love at Absolute Zero" and two of these short stories in, liking this one, too.

Having enjoyed Harold Adams' Carl Wilcox books and not finding J.A. Jance's Arizona tales worth pursuing further, I hold out hopes for this mystery in Wyoming.

Third in the series, light reading for evenings.

About halfway through and will finish before library eBook is due in a week.

This says it's only 544 pages, but my epub eBook is closer to 900. Wonderful language and action!

Read long ago in high school, and remembering virtually nothing but having enjoyed it, I take it up, re-reading a book as I rarely do.

Loved her House of the Spirits and Daughter of Fortune, so next up...

Having thoroughly enjoyed a handful of Kinsolver’s other works and with the recommendation of a most respected reader, I picked this up with high hopes. A hundred pages in, what seems to be a fair chance, I’m setting it aside. The main character does not draw me in, and his mother even less so. There are the expected passages of lovely writing, but if you’re looking for a Kingsolver book, look to others or ask me.

Clashing swords, intrigues of the heart, political loyalty, fine language, what's not to like?

Having loved The Moonstone, another of Collins' that combines mystery and classic.
