This was truly awful; it reads like someone from the estate of Jane Boleyn kidnapped Philippa Gregory and made her rewrite Jane at gunpoint like Annie Wilkes. I didn’t finish it. Just wow.

I’m re-reading a lot.

It’s okay; I’m only on chapter 9, but I could do without the melodramatic chapter endings. “...I checked both ways before leaving the bathroom. All clear. Except I didn’t think it would be all clear in Lilydale ever again.” “But that didn’t explain why I felt so hunted all of a sudden.”

It’s really eye-rolling. I’m hoping it gets better.

Good so far; a little too close to Hawthorne's classic, but the author also really echoes the mood Atwood sets in "The Handmaid's Tale" (big fan).

It's slooooooow going.

slow start, but it's really starting to get good...I'm envisioning less sleep in my future, since I've only got time to read at bedtime :)
