Chapter 6 has an incredibly insightful interpretation of Psalm 23. Well worth the read for that alone.

I met several people who were close to Brother Andrew. I think I would have very much like to have met him. Ironically, my own mission trip with Open Doors, the organization Brother Andrew founded, was to the very country where Brother Andrew first encountered the gospels, Indonesia.

Europe in WW2 was truly an awful place, a point that is continuously reinforced any time one reads an account.

Another military-based novel that I haven't read in probably decades. Another of my old favorites.

Sobering and inspiring stuff. May we all be so courageous.

Haven't read this one in decades. Fun piece of speculative military fiction, if a bit outdated.

You need to keep the various time lines in mind. The story bounces around a bit, chronologically, between characters.

I'm trying to be reading this always, so I pray I never say I'm done.
