I SO predicted one of the major plot lines of this book I actually can’t believe it. A lot slower than dune but I can’t get enough!

Pretty fab so far but I get so bored by some of the perspectives, bran I seriously dgaf u got paralyzed I want more danaerys!

Kind of reads like fanfiction but idgaf fab book to read while I’m sick

Ok I’m eating this up so far but the CONSTANT name dropping is driving me nuts like girl just trust people enjoy the world enough u don’t need to mention 10+ ppl from the main series when it doesn’t make any sense to do so.

I’ve tried to read this book like 4 times and I think there’s a reason bc there is basically no plot. Not to say I don’t adore babitz’s writing but given my current barely literate state it’s definitely trying my nerves.

So far I’m not a Joan Didion fiction stan. I much prefer her memoirs.

Pacing is a little weird and not sure all the rape scenes are necessary but otherwise love!

I’ve been hyper fixated on prostitution on the frontier since I visited butte Montana recently. This isn’t the highest quality history but a good basic overview of the tiers of brothels/how these women lived.

Rereading bc the movie pissed me off so bad but I couldn’t put my finger on why. After reading about 1/3 of this book so far, I’m starting to understand why.
