After everything they went through in Sibern, all the time spent building trust, I’d think Teriana would spend more time hearing him out. Instead she immediately labels him as murderer and monster, which he has always been honest about?? Makes me hella disappointed in her even though I’m well aware that realistically I couldn’t easily come to terms with his deception on the matter. Ugh. Hate this development.

This is positively delightful, and I am enjoying every awkward second.

Ok, but more than any other complaint I have…what person in their right mind would actually consider remaining host to a magic-eating tick?! Sure, your life will change if it gets removed…but how are you not repulsed at the idea of being a host to a parasite for the rest of your life?? GET IT OUT OF MEEEEEE

Simultaneously gets better and remains frustratingly slow, and the writing makes me feel like I’m being held at arm’s length, like I can’t really sink into the story and experience it as it’s happening. So disappointed and yet hopeful.

So frustrating to have made it this far and still not feel connected to the story or the characters. I have so much faith in Mary’s writing, but this has been skipping around and glossing over what could be so good. The bones are there. So much telling going on I hardly know what makes these characters tick, and I certainly don’t feel any of it. The writing is pretty tho.

I accidentally looked at reviews saying this is just a cheap knockoff of Dune, and now my enjoyment of this is so much lower. Which is disappointing as I had really been having a good time. Still good. Surely they’re not that much alike??

I missed science fiction.

If I wasn’t so close to finishing this, I’d DNF because I’m so fed up with what passes for romance these days. It is not enough for these men to figure out they have colossally messed up, apologize and then everything is miraculously fine. They can suddenly treat her like a queen and it makes up for the fact that they almost let her die? It goes so much deeper than that and I am over it.

This is incredibly ridiculous, the main character is a mess and doesn’t know what she wants or how to stand up for herself—so very high school. But also incredibly light and funny even as it’s eye roll worthy. So basically a good time.

*squealing* book 3 is finally here! Dropping everything and doing an immediate reread.

Ok, the mystery is a bit heavy handed, but this is definitely getting interesting 🤭

This is…a lot to comprehend…but the Reylo vibes are immaculate.

I said nothing. There was a certain comfort in his words, for I knew he was not the kind of man to speak thus solely out of a wish to make me feel better. All the same, my best was falling far short of what I had expected.

And I thought Shannon’s story made me bawl…

I thought for sure by the third book Rin would be a little less stupid. That is so not the case. I hate everyone. Except Kitay.

This book is going to destroy me.

I have loved every minute of this book….until now. I am literally so pissed off. No apology from Fitzroy, everyone is so excited that Charlie is now on their side, even Charlie is into it…and I am BURNING with rage. I need her to run and never look back. You deserve better than that bb. And I Do. Not. Forgive. Him.

Omg seductive America is the worst, and I LOVE that Maxon saw right through her. She deserves to be embarrassed for that, not to mention she should have more self-respect for herself—saving intimacy for when Maxon actually trusts her.

Like an idiot I looked at the series page to see if this was the last book. Apparently not. Apparently this one ends in a cliffhanger. I am already very distraught.

Ok, cool. Of COURSE we can’t even have the consolation prize.

I NEVER look for spoilers or read ahead, but I’m close. I’m not the only one who hates this, right?? I mean this is downright painful in the worst of ways. Every single thing I treasured from the first book has been absolutely trashed and the only thing I’m thriving off of is grown-up Cecelia, and she’s still too anchored to the little girl. There’s no way this ends satisfactorily…right??
