Ok this book’s chronology is weird but I’m trudging through it. Passed the chapter on the origins of totalitarianism and apparently fascism’s biggest agents are loneliness and cynicism. I was shocked to learn we have been here before, despite how different our social realities are these days with social media/technology. Apparently in 1970s New Yorker mag published Arendt, R Carson and James Baldwin in 1 issue!

This book is an introspective on changing things from the inside. So of course I’m reading it and finding it interesting. Her rationales for remaining at facebook are insane and suspicious though and I’m honestly surprised that there is no mention of divorce threats from her husband (though maybe she felt like that was too personal to disclose)

Made it to Katrina. Shoutout to spotify for making this book free for premium subscribers, it is very moving and has such a wealth of people spotlighted. The people in this book are like the characters every progressive literary fiction book tries to create, except these are all 100% real people. Looking forward to moving here

This book is genuinely so good😭😭 The author is doing such a fantastic job of preserving the voices and spirit of the people he interviewed, but it also reads very much like a narrative fiction piece. All of the people interviewed have such important stories and it is heartwarming to know they have been immortalized in this book

The speed at which I'm racing through this book has me seriously questioning my sanity. Or it may just be because this is not a good book to read when its the only thing going on in your life. Ill never know.

I have heard a lot of people who complain because this book does not feature Percy or Annabeth, but I really love these other characters!
