So far not finding this book as compelling as the first one, but it's interesting enough.

Right now, I'm wishing I hadn't got this book out of the library. Not only is it doing a great job of confirming all my unpleasant stereotypes about teenage boys, but it's focusing primarily on the importance of getting a good teacher who can connect relationally with the boy in order to keep him from becoming disaffected and unwilling to engage in learning. Great. Because that's something I can control as a parent.

I don't know that I'll be finishing this. The author has some interesting points to make about fearmongering in the media around screen time & video games. However, his understanding of games themselves is shallow, and he's grossly misrepresented a number of historical details in his cherry-picking effort to make his point... which, in the end, seems to be "don't be afraid of new tech." Which, duh.

I found this on my bookshelf (bought on clearance goodness knows how long ago) and... well, I'm 5 books behind schedule, so WHY NOT.

Say what you will about tie-in novels, they're great for catching up when you've fallen behind on a challenge...
