This book is breaking my heart

Because art isn’t absolute. A photograph, that’s different. You’re doing exactly what the photographer wanted you to see. A painting, though, is a partnership. The artist begins a dialogue, and you finish it. And here’s the incredible part - that dialogue is different every time you view the art. Not because anything changes in the canvas - but because of what changes in you.

What an adorable book so far - our Summerween Bookclub choice of July! I love the concept of magic here … “The moment Sera finished speaking the incantation, her magic rose to answer her. Whole galaxies of stars exploded behind her closed eyelids, and she felt better at once: her heart took wing, her grief lose its sharp edge, and her fingertips tingled with joy”.

Though I didn’t like the book from the beginning, now I can see that it is a powerful story of life, death, and grief. The grief portrayal is written out with an emotional precision while also showing how different we can be in our grieving.
