Not really what I was expecting. While the description promises “vivid historical storytelling, sharp critical analysis, rampant loopiness, and wryly personal ruminations […] “, this book ditches the vivid historical storytelling in favor of the not so wryly personal ruminations of the author. I’m giving it a few chapters before deciding whether I DNF it or not.

Absolutely hooked on this one.
