We were supposed to charge into fire safety last year, too:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

Another attempt to make a serious subject funny, or at least kinda funny. I posted about fire safety mid-week, then realized last year's National Fire Safety Week blog was on a similar subject, and I get a charge out of repeating myself.

Charge Into Fire Safety in 2026:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

This year the NFPA is again stressing safety when it comes to batteries and charging systems.

With the Internet Around, Who Needs Doctors?

It turns out the wonders of Peroxide include getting rid of lawyers and door-to-door salesmen.

It’s Haunted Noble County Season, by @MarkRHunter https://markrhunter.substack.com/p/it...

Check us out on Substack! It's the perfect time of the year for reading ghost stories.

The Haunted Book Conundrum, or: Amazon Weaves a Web of Puzzlement:

Amazon wants you to buy the audio or digital copies of Haunted Noble County, Indiana ... but they don't exist.

The Mackinac Bridge in Pictures:

An exceptional piece of technology that's even more amazing in person. Even crossing it is cool--or terrifying, depending on your individual phobia.

The FAA is announcing AI powered air traffic control. And, just like that, I'm driving.

Draft Four Of Hoosier Hysterical II: The Indianian:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

Yes, Indianian is a real word! But I need to decide on a subtitle ... a poll, maybe?

This story's about the convoluted steps of writing a non-fiction book, and how it led to me holding James Whitcomb Riley's hand. Well, it kinda looks like it in the picture.

Albion Volunteer Fire Department Block Party Photos:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

I suppose the title pretty much explains it all, but yes, here are some pictures from what I hope will be an annual event. Good times seem to have been had by all.

Podcasts, Interviews, Ghosts, and Books:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

A "new" podcast interview for you to check out, and another chance to see a couple of others from last year, and a look back at TV interviews from when "Haunted Noble County, Indiana" came out. Extra brownie points if you notice Emily in the background of the Fishers History Chat podcast.

Emily's Funky Cloud Photos:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

Honestly, it's been a good year for watching clouds--which generally means it's been a bad year for weather. Last week Emily took some photos at Pokagon State Park that are amazing.

A correction to the events scheduled for this coming Saturday's Albion Fire Department block party: There will NOT be a "touch the truck" opportunity during the event, although everything else will be the same. We apologize for that, but hope to still see everyone there.

Truth is Stranger, I've Heard:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

Often I see trivia "facts" on the internet. They're usually more trivial than fact, but I still haven't figured out the duck thing.

Nice People Should Finish First, the Dolly Parton Edition:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

Sometimes nice people get the success and credit they deserve, but as a society we tend to reward the opposite.

On Writing: a Glimpse Into Ian Grant's Past:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

When I wrote a sequel to Storm Chaser, I went just a bit over the top with a new character. He's trying hard to escape his past, but his past just keeps catching up with him. (And we also get an appearance by teenager Beth Hamlin, who takes over every scene I put her in.)

These photos are for turkeys:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

Because they're turkey photos. See what I did, there? And I can't help feeling we could all use a little turkey zen right now. On a related note, I just invented turkey zen.

A Fire Department Block Party, and the block isn't even on fire:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

An attempt at using humor to attract the public to an Albion Volunteer Fire Department fund raiser. What will bring people in: the funny, or the beer? I'm coming for the can Koozies.

Clouds Over Albion:

Photos. Of clouds. Over Albion. It doesn't have to be complicated for me to be easily entertained.

Horses, Hats, and Road Apples:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

A photo blog about horses, because it's summer and, hey ... horses. Just don't stand too close behind them.

Another pessimistic author theory:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

Sometimes an author can't even give them away, but at least there's a reason.

Smoky Deer is Today's Video:

https://markrhunter.blogspot.com/2026...

Actually, smoke AND deer, so don't get our hopes up if you're hungry. If you can't see our video of a hazy encounter (hint: It's hazy), the YouTube link is right below.

One video proves the stupidity of mankind:

My birthday request:

Okay, it's really just more shameless promotion, but it's birthday shameless promotion! Also, we're getting smoked up, and the ice cream cake was delicious.

Movie review: Supergirl:

There have been lots of Supergirls; Millie Alcock might be my new favorite, but she could use more script support.
