My god, I don't think I have underlined so many lines and passages in a book since reading for class in college! So far this book is hitting HARD. Just when I thought July had lost me, she pulled me all the way back in! Can't wait to finish this one and discuss with book group!

This is a compelling read but also a bit of a slog with the amount of trauma the main characters are wrestling with. I did not expect there to be so much about "comfort women" and the unimaginable hell they went through.

4.5 stars. Rounded up bc I found it so darn entertaining, with interesting story line and language/narrative voice. I few like this book the enjoyable line between a popular novel and more literary contemporary fiction, definitely an easy read, but not fluff, and with great craft of language. Definitely a great follow up to Less. But it's own story too

So far a collection of crisp, well written short stories that show the mundane and profound of the human experience, in Florida.

Finished the eponymous first short story, already really into it. A bit heavy and dense for my holidaze mindframe, will definitely finish and recommend!
