Struggling to finish. Beautiful prose. All 'tell' and very little 'show'. Over the top informing the reader what they should feel, instructional with very little hook. Exciting concept in story line but arms length approach a distraction.

Was loving it. Thought it would be one of those incredible reads I'd finish in a day. Dissapointing turn at chapter 21. Speed reading now ...

Tedious. With all these contrary high ratings and hype will keep going to figure out what I'm missing.

A great read! Well written. Engaging and quirky. Strong story line despite cheeky 'Death' pov.

One of the best books I've read in a long while, so good that I am forcing myself to slow down, savour every word and phrase.

My own fault that I bought this one. My preference for Canadian authors tripped me up this time! My least favourite books are those where writers write about fictitious writers!

Slow read. Having difficulty staying engaged in this one. Bored with all the goofy interviews. A long and stagnating method to keep the momentum going.

Slow build. After the dramatic prologue, I am waiting for something more to explain the circumstances ...

Slow start but loving it enough that if it is made into a movie (fingers crossed) I'd be first in line at the theatre.

Hope the author has a surprise or two tucked away

Confused that with such a personal and intimate story for the main protagonist the author chose third person voice? It is set between 1864 and 1971 and yet the main protagonist is a wuss.
