Passionate about words, but he's not much of a writer. His cheesy prose has become eyerollingly tiresome only two dozen pages in.

Coyote is a unique and memorable character, and a complete departure from what I expected from LeGuin!

Rocannon's World so far is interesting more for the education in LeGuin's progression as a storyteller and stylist, than it is for its own story. It's fascinating reading one of her earliest works after having read one of her best regarded works, published only 8 years later, The Dispossessed.

Lu Da is a fun character. I'm also enjoying the character relay format; when two characters' paths cross, the author often abandons the first character's tale to begin the second character's, then again when a new character enters, and again, etc.

The Britishness of the translation is distracting. It's hard to believe it truly carries the novel's tone as Sōseki's wrote it. Not a speaker of Japanese, I can't say. This notwithstanding, I Am a Cat is interesting and funny thus far.

I don't remember the narrator's voice being quite so annoyingly chummy.

Glad to be out of the University setting, finally! Despite dwelling too long there, the writing is engaging. I have a hard time putting the book down for the night.

Some new, fairer ways of examining grief. I'm thankful.

Note to self: Don't read this in public. It's hard to hold back the emotion, and it's even stranger to strangers when laughter follows tears.

Finally done! Ending with a translation of Dante, and that in a chapter on the conception of Paradise, was an awkward choice for a compilation otherwise organized by literary forms.

This writing, this horrible writing. I can't finish this garbage. Putting this down. I'll watch the movie for the story, so my brain won't suffer from reading this mediocre middle school fan fiction.
