Making slow progress, but enjoying it so far! Love getting to know Fitz and Burrich and Chade, and looking forward to seeing where the story goes from here!

I'm making slow progress with this one, but I'm loving it so far! I already love Violet and Maud's friendship!

So excited to finally have this book in my hands!!

What I don't understand is, how am I over halfway through, and part of the plot hinted at in the synopsis on the back hasn't even happened yet?

And the thing that seems to be the main plot so far wasn't even mentioned on the back? I just don't get it.

Note to self: stop reading the back of books

It's just so... vague.

I can't get a solid sense of any characters, any settings, it's just all atmosphere and literary writing style

Once again, it took me a little while to get into a Steve Cavanagh book, but once I'm in, it's one I don't want to put down!

I don't understand why so many people are being so forthcoming with their secrets. I know the main character is a 60ish bookish lady, but come on, at least make her investigation a little less easy

I don't really understand what's happening, but I love the writing style!

I love the descriptions of George! Lucy really doesn't like him much, does she?

Fascinated by the worldbuilding of this one, and I already love the characters of Lucy and Lockwood -- can't wait to properly meet George!

I'm not loving this so far - still intrigued, but often feeling a bit lost on what's happening.

I like the interjections of chapters from 'Sweet Sorrows' and 'The Age of Fable, or Beauties of Mythology'

Very intrigued so far, looking forward to seeing where it goes from here!

Very much enjoying being back with these characters again!

Mini Review: Ayana and the Thorn Wood

It took me a little while to get into it, but I ended up really liking this story. I liked the character of Ayana, she was a strong but unassuming character, and she developed a lot and learned to stand up for herself. Her family were abusive, silencing her, and it took the beast listening for her to find her voice again.
My one gripe - the labyrinth seemed very Greek inspired

the 'Monster' chapters are so WEIRD in the audiobook - just weird moans and deep breathing...

70% in, and I'm feeling ZERO chemistry between the lead couple... how is this meant to be a fantasy romance??
